XPRO StixSeal Ultra Strong Sealant & Trade Adhesive Review

XPRO StixSeal Ultra Strong Sealant & Trade Adhesive is a polymer-based product designed to carry out a wide array of tasks. You can use it as a decorator’s caulk, as an adhesive, and as a sealant.

You can use XPRO StixSeal inside or out as it will stand up to UV radiation and movement from exterior substrates. This makes it perfect for sealing windows and doors. It also stands up to the harsh conditions in a bathroom, so you can use it around sinks, baths and showers.

One of the most impressive qualities of XPRO StixSeal Ultra Strong Sealant & Trade Adhesive is it can be over painted once cured with either water, or oil-based paints. That said, it isn’t the only product on the market that claims to be capable of all that. How does this one stack up? Click here to see current prices.

My XPRO StixSeal Ultra Strong Sealant & Trade Adhesive Review

I should start by saying I’m a Decorator, but I do use products like this often when working in peoples’ homes. The most widely known one is CT1, which let’s face it, is horrendous to use. It’s too soft and it feels like silicone on your skin, so it’s horrible when you need to apply generous amounts. It also takes too long to ‘grip’, and way too long before you can paint over it. Even then, it can only be painted with certain types of paint.

XPRO StixSeal Ultra Strong Sealant & Trade Adhesive is different. It feels like a caulk to use, which makes things a lot easier when trying to keep everything neat and tidy. It grips strong and hard in very little time, and you can paint over it with normal emulsion after a few hours. On top of all this, XPRO StixSeal Ultra Strong Sealant & Trade Adhesive costs less than a lot of normal silicone products!!

I love this product and go through loads of it. I use it for snagging woodwork or sealing the top of splashbacks before painting. I also use it around windows before painting, especially when working outside. I don’t think you’ll find anything better, and that’s my honest opinion. Click here to see current prices.

FAQs

What is the difference between adhesive and adhesive sealant?

An adhesive just sticks. So, you might use it to stick skirting board to a wall (as an example). An adhesive sealant like XPRO StixSeal can be used as an adhesive, and as a silicone or caulk. So, you can stick your skirting board to the wall, and then caulk around the edges.

How long does adhesive sealant last?

This depends on the quality of your adhesive sealant and the environment you use it in. You might get 10-15 years of life if you use it to seal around a bath in a busy bathroom. If you use it on skirting board, then it’ll last for the life of the skirting board.

Which is better, silicone or adhesive?

These are two different products designed for different jobs. A silicone is used to create a water seal, whereas an adhesive is used as, well, an adhesive. XPRO StixSeal Ultra Strong Sealant & Trade Adhesive does both.

What happens if sealant gets wet before it cures?

This can hamper the sealant’s ability to adhere to your surface, so the bond is weaker, and not necessarily watertight.
