2025 has been a record year for training, with Dulux Academy reporting a 35% uplift in professionals completing courses. Having trained over 27,000 decorators since 2016 and supported apprentices through its Apprentice Season Ticket, Dulux Academy is gearing up to support tradespeople throughout 2026.

Dulux Academy was the UK’s first dedicated facility for professionals in the domestic and commercial decoration industry1. It has trained over 27,000 people since its doors opened back in March 2016. In 2025, Dulux Academy welcomed more decorators onto its training courses than ever before, with a 35% uplift vs last year. With courses spanning everything from painting and decorating techniques like spray and wallpaper to colour insight, the Dulux Academy supports everyone in the trade, whether they are just starting out or looking to enhance their craft.

To ensure it continues to offer the training and resources decorators need most, Dulux Academy welcomed Training Associate, Craig Hainey, to the team this year to bring training to professionals in Scotland. In addition, James Wildish became a full-time member of the team to lead on spray technique courses.

Dulux Academy & Dulux Select Decorator Lead at AkzoNobel, Vickie Mather, said: “At Dulux Academy, we have a passion for raising standards across the decorating industry. With dedicated training and a wide range of digital resources, we support decorators at every stage of their career so they can provide the best for their customers.

“As well as online and in-person training, we opened our doors for Spray Saturday and the Trade Show-Down this year. These events brought professionals together to network, find out about the latest innovations in their industry and get hands on with products and equipment from Dulux Academy’s supplier partners.”

This year also saw Vickie take home the Most Influential Woman in Construction Education award at the CITB Top 100 Influential Women in Construction Awards. This accolade celebrates those shaping the next generation through education, training and mentoring and reflects Vickie’s dedication to supporting the trade with opportunities to learn and upskill at every stage of their professional journey.
