As a Professional Decorator, I love a good specialist ceiling paint. Gone are the days of people painting a ceiling ‘Brilliant White’, which looks tacky, or using standard vinyl matt emulsion which shows visible defects like flashing.
I’m not sure whether the shift in the industry was because people started to opt for large open-plan rooms in their home, so ceilings became more of a feature. Or something may have changed in vinyl matt which meant defeats were more likely to show on a ceiling, but now specialist ceiling paints are commonplace. Some are a lot better than others. In this blog, I’m going to give you my honest WRX Ceiling Paint Pro review based on my own experience of using it at work.

My WRX Ceiling Paint Pro Review
WRX also make Albany AF1 Ceiling Paint, which is sold at Brewers Decorating Centre and has become very popular amongst decorators in the UK. For good reason too; it’s a good paint at a great price. WRX Ceiling Paint Pro is even better for a couple of reasons, which I’ll get into as we go along.
You’ll find the paint easy to apply, much easier than a lot of the other ceiling paints available. The opacity is good but not great. You can cover magnolia in two coats, so I assume you can cover bare plaster in two coats as well, which is all you really need from a ceiling paint. It would take an extra coat to cover a strong colour.
The finish is genuinely gorgeous! It has a rich depth that shows no defects at all. I’ve described other ceiling paints in the same way, but this seems to raise the bar. If you have an open plan room, or a room with lots of natural light, then WRX Ceiling Paint Pro is the perfect choice.
There are a couple of drawbacks. The durability is a bit iffy; WRX describe this paint as “wipeable”, which is fair, but I don’t think I’d use it in a bathroom where there is excess steam.
There is a bit of spatter too. Not as much as the Albany AF1, but it’s still noticeable. The finish is a lot less stippled than Albany AF1.
Conclusion
It’s a great paint! I genuinely love it! I just wish it was more widely available. Nowhere local to me sells it, so I need to order online, which can be a pain. Worth it though. As a decorator, I try to create the ‘wow factor’ in rooms and the ceiling is a big part of that. By switching to a good-quality ceiling paint like WRX Ceiling Paint Pro, clients generally notice the quality of the finish as soon as they walk into a room.

Great review Mike.
I agree with vinyl Matt products banding on ceilings etc however the Dulux trade vinyl Matt white is an excellent go to product touches up a dream and cutting in doesn’t show.
£30 plus vat per 7.5l when offer.
The advantage over cheap contract Matt’s is leaves a decent skin any further coats especially if using a durable matt walls ,
You can almost get away with 2 coats on new plaster pretty solid.
