I’ve been a decorator for almost 20 years and I’ve been blogging for the Decorators Forum UK for the past 5 years. I thought I’d take the time to sit down and put together a very simple Teknos paint review and guide. I hope you find it useful.

Teknos is a Finnish paint brand which seems to be expanding rapidly into different countries. They’ve been in the UK for roughly 30 years and have started to become very popular. This paint is available in more and more stockists.

Teknos Teknoceiling 02 Review

This is a specialist ceiling paint which is available in white, or a handful of colours. Teknoceiling is manufactured to have as little sheen as possible, thus eliminating problems such as picture framing, roller marks and flashing. It does exactly what it aims to achieve!! The finish is a perfect, luxurious, flat matt. It’s awesome on large, light sensitive ceilings. In fact, I’d say it’s probably one of the best ceiling paints on the market.

Opacity is ok, ease of use is fantastic, and at around £55 for 9L, the price is extraordinary for a product of this calibre. At the time of writing this review, Teknos Teknoceiling 02 is a new product. I predict that within a year, this paint will be everywhere!!

Teknos Pro5 Review

Teknos Pro5 is a durable matt emulsion available online in any tinted colour. Ease of use is ok, but nothing special. The overall look and finish of this paint is unbelievably good!! You’re left with a luxuriously flat finish with a stunning depth of colour. Teknos Pro5 is also extremely durable for a matt emulsion.

This is one of my standout products and it is one I would highly recommend! Click here for a full review!

Teknos Futura Aqua Primer Review

This is a water-based adhesion primer, designed to adhere to problem surfaces such as old oil-based paint. It can also be used on non-rusting or galvanised metal, bare timber, even plaster. Teknos Futura Aqua Primer creates the perfect base for the Futura topcoats. Touch dry in an hour and re-coat in 6. Available in white or tinted colours.

I love this product!! It seems to take a while to cure and become durable, but once it is fully dry, it’s bullet proof. The opacity and ease of use are bang on too!! I can’t fault it really. This is very good paint.

Teknos Futura Aqua 90 – Water-Based Gloss Review

Available in white or tinted colours, touch dry in an hour, recoat in 6 and fully durable after 3 days.

Good quality water-based gloss products are hard to come by, but this is one of them. The opacity is nothing to write home about, so make sure your coat of Teknos Futura primer is solid before using the 90.

Ease of use is fine, brush marks are less visible than most water-based gloss products, and the overall finish is awesome. The durability once fully cured is great too.

I would personally sand all varnished and stained timber before coating with any kind of product, but thats just me. 👍

The Teknos Pro 5 sounds great. A waterborne alkyd for walls, so should hard wearing. My concern is, if I want to use a standard waterbased emulsion over it in future will I need to prepare the walls in any special way i.e. I wouldn’t be able to just paint over it with an acrylic matt or vinyl matt?

I used Teknos primer 2900 and Aquatop finish 2 years ago.

Teknos claim it won’t need any work for 7 – 8 years.

Rubbish claim…. Mine broke down within 2 years (applied in a workshop following all instructions)

It took me 9 days to remove it all as, no matter what I tried, it was impossible to patch it up neatly.

Teknos were only helpful in offering advice to sand it all down and selling me more products,

I’ve now used OSMO oil…. Far simpler, easy to recoat.

I will never use Teknos products again and would steer anyone away from using it.
