Juno is a paint brand from Spain and hasn’t been available very long in the UK, so Juno Prof is a new product to me. I’ve just finished using it on a job, and I was genuinely gobsmacked by how well it performed, so I thought I’d write a quick review.

My Experience Using Juno Prof Emulsion

I’ve used Juno Prof in White and in a tinted colour (colour-matched to Farrow & Ball Ammonite). I genuinely didn’t know what to expect. Four litres of tinted Juno Prof set me back about £55 including VAT, which puts it roughly at the same price point as other trade durable matt emulsion paints on the market. However, Juno Prof isn’t just another durable matt — it’s so much better!

I diluted the Juno Prof by about 10% to loosen it up (this is standard for a lot of trade paints). It was an absolute joy to use. To say it “flowed well” would be putting it mildly. It just kept going, meaning brush and roller strokes were smooth and long, making application very easy.

Opacity is great too, even after dilution. Brush and roller marks blend nicely as they dry, leaving a blemish-free finish. You don’t need to lay your cutting-in off with a mini roller to prevent flashing — you could apply it with a yard brush and it still wouldn’t flash!

The finish is a very flat matt (I’d estimate 4–5% sheen in the tinted colour). Oh, and it touches up too! It’s one of the only trade emulsion paints I’ve used that genuinely touches up, even on light-critical walls.

To be clear, I think this is as good as any of the premium paints I’ve used in the past — and that’s before you even consider the anti-mould and fire-retardant properties. It’s unbelievable, really.

As for the price point, it’s very reasonable. If it’s a choice between this and a standard trade durable matt, it’s a no-brainer for me.

I know I sound a little OTT, but I’m a geek when it comes to paint — and Juno Prof has genuinely impressed me.

The only real downside I can think of is the 6-hour recoat time. As a Decorator, time is money. Juno Prof requires two coats, and I need to be able to apply both coats in a day, particularly if I’m working on single rooms.

Other than that, Juno Prof is an absolute masterpiece, and I’d highly recommend it.
