Silk Touch – Not Just Another “Microfibre” Roller

Axus Decor was excited to finally reveal its new roller for walls and ceilings, the Silk Touch, at the National Painting and Decorating Show. The Silk Touch outperforms the competition due to its high density of fibres, each finer than silk, and the softening process during production. Whilst the new rollers contain microfibre, Axus Decor advises caution over this buzzword. Manufacturers often use the term “microfibre” to infer “high quality”, but the quality of microfibre and its manufacturing process can vary significantly. Two “microfibre” rollers could be on opposite ends of the performance spectrum.

Axus Decor’s only objective when developing the range was to create a fabric that would leave minimal texture on the wall for a flat, beautiful appearance. Great coverage would be a bonus. So the development team felt smug when the final prototype was tested against three market-leading rollers, and the results exceeded their expectations. The finish showed almost no orange peel, and the coverage, even with the short pile (6mm), was exceptional. Whilst the competitor rollers could load up well, none could release paint as well onto the surface. This was evident during clean-up, particularly with one competitor roller, as it took a very long time to wash out all the paint still retained in the fabric.

Visit your local Axus Decor stockist to take a close look. The roller is packaged in a cardboard sleeve, not a plastic wrapper, so you can interact with it before buying. You’ll notice that the roller ends are tapered over a wide angle (to minimise the appearance of tram lines). When you take it out of the sleeve, you’ll also see that the securely woven fabric doesn’t lose fibres, though it’s still good practice to wash new rollers before first use.

Since its launch, positive user reviews have been popping up on social media, and merchants have been delighted with customer feedback. Decorators have been particularly impressed with the surface area that a single load can cover and, of course, the silky smooth finish that it leaves.

Silk Touch is available in 2″, 4″, 5″, 9″ and 12″ sizes. Search #rollwithsilk on socials or visit axusdecor.com.
