Smith & Rodger Blockade is a fast-drying shellac-based primer and sealer that is manufactured in Glasgow, Scotland. Not all shellac-based primers are the same! Blockade has fantastic opacity and a better flow than a lot of its competitors, meaning it is easier to use and you’ll need less coats.

What can Blockade be used for?

  • Quick coverage of dark colours, stains from nicotine, water damage, mould or smoke damage, so it can then be overcoated. Dries in 15 minutes, overcoat in 45 minutes.
  • Covering ink, lipstick, crayon or red wine stains on walls
  • Improved adhesion on hard to paint surfaces such as tile or gloss paints with no sanding required
  • Blocking odours from smoke, nicotine or past damp
  • Sealing tannins and knots in wood surfaces

Where can Blockade be used?

Blockade White Shellac Sealer Primer provides excellent adhesion to most interior surfaces such as:

  • wood,
  • plaster,
  • drywall,
  • porous wallcoverings,
  • metal
  • tile
  • previously painted surfaces

How do I apply it?

Apply using a brush, roller or spray.

For difficult to reach or uneven surfaces use the 400ml spray can of Blockade

A single coat is enough for most jobs.

Fast drying, Touch dry in 15 mins, Recoatable in 45 mins.

Good coverage of 12.5m2/l.

Where can I get it?

Blockade is available from Brewers Decorators Centres, The Paint Shed, Crown Decorating Centres & Dulux Decorators Centres, TopDec Decorating supplies, and many independent stockists around the UK.
