How to Save Time Prepping Surfaces with Blockade

Posted Mar 17, 2025 | Featured industry news, Products | 0 comments

Blockade is the ideal base to cover stains, odours and surfaces that need a primer for adhesion. It can be used as a base for both water-based and oil-based interior paints on a multitude of surfaces.

Here are some examples of everyday problems that you can solve with Blockade:

  1. Cover mould stains and water damage in bathrooms and kitchens before painting
  2. As an undercoat over dark colours to minimise coats needed of the final paint colour
  3. Covering stains on walls such as red wine, ink or crayon, or nicotine
  4. Sealing unpainted wood to cover knots and tannins for a smooth final finish
  5. Improving adhesion on hard to paint surfaces such as covering gloss paint

Blockade can be used to save time on job, improve the final finish and save materials such as less coats of the final paint colour.

What kind of surfaces is Blockade ideal for?

Blockade is the ideal sealer primer for most interior surfaces – walls, ceilings, plaster, unpainted wood, previously painted matt, satin, eggshell or gloss surfaces, it can even be used on metal!

Preparation

Blockade requires minimal preparation beforehand. If the surface is smooth, then just apply one coat!

If the surface is uneven, is peeling, or has residue on it, clean thoroughly, remove any loose, flaking paint and give the surface a light sand until smooth.

Apply Blockade – you can use a brush, roller or spray.

Blockade is fast-drying so you can apply your desired finish over it in 45 minutes.

Where can I get it?

Blockade is available from Brewers Decorators Centres, The Paint Shed, Crown & Dulux Decorators Centres, and many independent stockists around the UK.

Give it a try and let Blockade become your favourite stainblocker!
