Belsize Park school receives funding boost

A Belsize Park primary school is set to revitalise its facilities after receiving a substantial boost from a nearby decorating and DIY specialist.

Fleet Primary School, on Fleet Road, has received £2,500 credit to spend at Leyland’s new Belsize Park store on Haverstock Hill, which opened late last year.

Shoppers were invited to nominate worthy groups and organisations in the local area – and Fleet Primary School was selected as the winner from dozens of entries.

The school is committed to providing a secure and stimulating environment for its 200 pupils and School Business Manager Debbie Barry said the materials would help with ongoing maintenance.

She said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this amazing donation from Leyland.

“We are a school serving an economically and ethnically diverse local population. Our mission is to help each child achieve their full potential, regardless of their family or personal circumstances.

“School budgets are tight and it is a constant battle to keep up with the unpredictable nature of school maintenance.

“This support will make a significant contribution to the school’s annual maintenance expenses, benefiting more than 200 local children, their families and the wider Belsize Park community.

“The new year could not have got off to a better start.”

Leyland Belsize Park is the company’s 35th store in London and has proved extremely popular with tradespeople and home improvers since Mayor of Camden, Councillor Samata Khatoon, cut the ribbon in October.

The Mayor was present again as the bumper cheque was handed over to the school.

Attila Toth, Manager at Leyland Belsize Park, said: “We’re delighted to be able to celebrate our arrival in the area by making this significant donation to Fleet Primary School.

“We know funding is a constant battle for schools and support like this can make a significant impact on the hundreds of people who use the building on a daily basis.

“Leyland is this year celebrating 40 years of business and helping the London community has always been a core principle.”

All Leyland stores have an incredibly wide range of products, offering unmatched convenience and service to professional tradespeople carrying out jobs in the area as well as local residents taking on their own DIY projects, big or small.

The Belsize Park store benefits from all the products Leyland is renowned for, including a vast selection of paints from leading brands such as Dulux, Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Johnstone’s and Leyland Trade – all with on-site colour mixing.

Additionally, it is the first Leyland store to offer Benjamin Moore paint.
