Kip Masking Tape Review

I was sent a box of Kip masking tape to review by the guys at Shurtape, who are also the company behind FrogTape!!

Kip masking tape is a German brand, that is huge in Europe. The products have never been widely available in the UK before now, and Kip is still only available from a handful of stockists over here. One place you can get it is online at Next Day Paint.

The Kip masking tape range offers everything the modern decorator might need. I think the best thing for me to do is go through the products I was sent and talk about each one in turn. I am honest in all my reviews, and I’ll say from the outset that I was impressed with all these tapes. One of them is a game changer, and I do not use that term lightly. I do a lot of spray painting, so I’m constantly on the lookout for good-quality masking tape brands that don’t come with a premium price tag.

Kip Premium Masking Tape Review

This is the standard creped paper that you’d use for general-purpose stuff. Kip Premium Masking Tape has a rubber adhesive, is safe to leave down for a few days at a time, and is waterproof. It’s easy to remove because the strips come off in full pieces. There isn’t much else I can say about it, as this is Kip’s bog-standard masking tape. I have just bought another box of it to use over the top of switches and to mask up skirting boards.

Kip Washi-Tech Outdoor Tape (Blue) Review

OK, now we’re onto the good stuff. This is a high-tack washi paper, which is ideal for use on the exterior of a property. It comes with the usual UV protection, and there is absolutely no paint bleed. This is the ideal product for me, as I spray a lot of exterior masonry and Kip blue is perfect for masking windows. I drop my film from the top, then seal around the edges with Kip Blue. It stays exactly where it needs to until you come to de-mask.

Kip Washi – Tech Wallpaper (Purple Masking Tape)

OK, now we’re onto the good stuff. This is a high-tack washi paper, which is ideal for use on the exterior of a property. It comes with the normal UV protection, and there is absolutely no paint bleed. This is the ideal product for me, as I spray a lot of exterior masonry and Kip Blue is perfect for masking windows. I drop my film from the top, then seal around the edges with Kip Blue. It stays where it needs to until you come to de-mask.

Kip Washi-Tec Premium (Gold Tape) Review

This is the “game changer” I mentioned earlier. Kip Gold Tape is so thin, but easy to manipulate. It is an absolute joy to use!! There is absolutely no paint bleed, it is UV-resistant, and it sticks to basically anything. You need to try this masking tape to understand just how good it is. I will be using a lot of this tape moving forward.

The only negative is it can rip when you come to remove it, but otherwise, it is perfect.
