Rodo is delighted to announce the celebration of its centenary as a fourth generation, independently run family business.

From formative beginnings as a three-employee broom supplier to the UK’s most widely distributed trade decorating accessories supplier, the company has grown steadily over the decades while remainingfirmly rooted in the family values and work ethic that shaped its early years.

The entrepreneurial spirit Joseph Brierley instilled in 1926 helped the business grow and prosper through its early years, and as emulsion paints became widespread in the post-war decades, Rodo expanded its decorating range, adding rollers, tools and dust sheets.

The 1970s saw the third Brierley generation join the company and the launch of painters’ overalls, which later paved the way for a new division supplying PPE and workwear. The creation of ProDec in the 1980s marked the emergence of Rodo’s lead trade applicator brand and a key driver of growth into the new millennium.

MD, Laura Brierley-Smith:

“Reaching 100 years is a remarkable milestone, made possible by the hard work, commitment and dedication of employees – past and present – as well as the loyal customers and suppliers who have supported us throughout our journey.

I’m incredibly proud of all that’s been achieved, and even prouder that we continue to uphold the family culture and values our founder instilled from the very beginning.

We are excited to celebrate this anniversary throughout the year, honouring everyone who came before us and stand with us now, who helped shape Rodo into the company it is today.”

Throughout 2026, the company will commemorate the anniversary with a series of activities designed to celebrate those – both externally and internally – who have helped shaped the business.
