I’ve been using WRX paint products for some time now in my role as a Professional Decorator. They’ve been in the UK for maybe three years…. Or that’s when I discovered them anyway.
It’s the WRX satinwood that won me over. The opacity of the satinwood isn’t great, but it’s quick and easy to use, adheres well to almost any surface, is extremely durable, and gives a nice finish. It’s safe to say I’m a fan.
Anyway, I’m not here to talk about the satinwood. I want to submit my WRX Trade Durable Matt Pro review after using it on a couple of jobs.
What is WRX Trade Durable Matt Pro?
It’s a relatively new product that has been developed specifically for the UK market. WRX has seen a lot of success over here in recent years, but they weren’t happy with the performance of some of their paints; their durable matt emulsion being one of them. So, they went back to the drawing board and made them better.
It’s an acrylic durable emulsion used on interior walls and ceilings. You can buy it from a handful of stockists, including TopDec Decorating Supplied and Concept Décor.

My Review
The first thing to point out is that you’re looking at less than £10 per litre for WRX Trade Durable Matt Pro in a tinted colour. This makes it around 30% cheaper than most of the other trade durable matt emulsion paints on the market.
It is definitely a trade product too. I dilute mine by around 10% to help with flow, but then it flies on and the opacity is still good, even in white. The sheen level is a tad high for a ‘matt’, but the finish is superb. It seems to have a good open time, so brush and roller marks settle and blend into each other. I haven’t seen any flashing or picture framing, and I’ve used it in a light critical room. (I haven’t tried touching it up).
You won’t have any issues with WRX Trade Durable Matt Pro. It’s a good quality trade paint. In terms of value-for-money, I think it’s second to none.
The film paint feels more like an acrylic eggshell. It peels off your skin in sheets, which you wouldn’t expect from a durable matt. This isn’t a negative or a positive, but it caught my attention as something slightly out of the ordinary.

Best Tools to Apply WRX Trade Durable Matt Pro
It isn’t a difficult paint to apply and get looking good, so you don’t really need to go out and buy specific tools to apply it with. Any good quality medium pile roller will do the trick. My favourites are Hamilton Perfection and Axus Décor silk Touch.
Equally with the brush; any good quality synthetic paintbrush will be fine. The paint flows very well, so something like ProDec Ice fusion or Axus Décor Silk Touch would be a joy to use with it because they have softer bristles. But you won’t go wrong with any good paintbrush.
