Valspar Trade has been running its award-winning College Tour across the 2024/2025 academic year, visiting a series of colleges across the UK to deliver its Colour Workshop. Following its great success and increased demand, Valspar Trade is delighted to expand its tour with further college partnerships.

Initially launched in 2021, Valspar Trade has visited ten colleges across the 2024/2025 academic year so far, all aimed at engaging the younger generation of painters and decorators. Delivered by the local Trade Sales Specialists (TSS), each visit includes a Colour Workshop and practical session, where students can get hands on with the Valspar Trade paint.

New for 2024/25, each college partnership will also include the donation of £500 towards an initiative of the college’s choosing, for the benefit of staff and students.

The College Tour has proven to be a resounding success so far, with positive feedback from colleges and students alike praising the workshop and the industry insight offered. So much so that Valspar Trade has chosen to expand its 2024/2025 programme, with further colleges on board.

Megan Talbot, Lecturer at Accrington and Rossendale College, said: “The workshop was brilliant; all the learners and apprentices really enjoyed it, as did the lecturing team! Terry was great and really worked with the students to make the whole session fun and interesting. We were also in awe of the Valspar Trade products – I was already a big fan of them as I used them during my own apprenticeship, but the session had us all converted. We’ll definitely be looking to organise the same session for our new students in September.”

One student commented: “The Valspar Trade team explained a lot of new things to me about colour and how different colours can work together or against each other, depending on the environment. I’ve learned about how many different colours Valspar Trade can mix, with the ability to essentially match any shade you can see, which I found really interesting. If you can match any colour, just think about all the different opportunities you can have!”

Speaking about the College Tour success, Richard Palmer, Head of Trade said, “We’ve been delighted with the positive responses to our workshops over the last academic year. It’s a fantastic opportunity to engage with local colleges and support the next generation of painters and decorators, and so we’re thrilled to now be extending this initiative out to even more colleges!”

Valspar Trade’s Colour Workshop is focussed on providing students with a unique insight into paint and the use of colour. The workshop will cover the importance of choosing good quality paint, the impact of colour and how to achieve a successful colour scheme, as well as a professional finish.

Valspar Trade will be visiting Bishop Aukland College next, followed by Glasgow Kelvin College, with more to be confirmed.
