Top Tips for Airless Spraying

ProDec asked members of the Decorators Forum to share their hints and tips when it comes to airless spraying. This is a sample of what they came back with

Woah so many!
My top tips for airless spraying would be;
Always Practise on paper first to check the viscosity. Really look at how the paint lays. Is it going on too thick? Too thin? Is it running? Is it beading? Always assess before you spray.

When away always overlap by 50%, it ensures even coverage avoiding the striped look created by amateurs.

PPE; get clued up on the dangers of your machine and spraying, then protect yourself and your surrounding accordingly. Your health is your wealth people!

Make sure everything is connected tightly with a spanner and test a patch with paper taped to a wall before beginning with the spray.

Go on a course, learn the basics.

.

When spraying large, always have an apprentice potting up for you.
Keep your machine well maintained and greased up when not in use.
Always blow the lines through before storing and depressurise.
Keep the tips clean and look after the pump. Remember this kit is making you money.

Strain your paint, mask your area correctly make sure you have the correct size tip and pressure for the job! oh , and practice first !

Wear good quality mask.
Attend cpd
