Have you ever taken a minute to consider just how good The Paint Shed actually is? You can take suppliers for granted, but the logistics of running an operation like theirs must be complicated to say the least.
The Paint Shed were the first supplier to have a website with a comprehensive range of trade paints. You can go online and order almost any trade product from any brand. The prices are so competitive that Decorators used them to negotiate better prices at other trade counters. It still happens now. I see Decorators with trade accounts asking merchants local to me to price match The Paint Shed.
Sometimes I think, “you may as well just order from The Paint Shed instead of getting the price matched”. The website is quick and easy to use, and they’ve got a wider range of products than almost every other trade supplier I know of. This is important to me, simply because like most modern Decorators, I use products from loads of different brands. Shopping somewhere like The Paint shed means I can get everything in one place.
I’m nowhere near one of their stores — the closest is about four hours away (I’m Northwest England, and The Paint Shed’s 21 stores are in Scotland). Doesn’t really matter though, because their delivery’s been spot on every time.
- FREE standard delivery on orders over £50*
- £4.99 if it’s under £50*
- Next working day delivery from £6.99*
(*Just make sure you order before 1pm on a weekday)
Everything I’ve had from them has turned up well packed — not a single dented tin yet.
Another reason I like using them is their pallet deals; All you need to do is send them a quick email on customerservices@thepaintshed.com. Just tell them where you are and what you need, then they come back with a price. This just saves you paying shelf price when you have a big job on.
These are just my thoughts anyway. If you use them yourself, I’d be very interested in what you think. If you don’t then maybe you should give them a go.

banging place mate.. use them myself and I’m all the way down plymouth. and always get it next day… massive range at great price.. always will to help.. well said Mike 👏
The Paint Shed cheaper for most one man bands than trade merchants.
You have to wonder how this is fair when you spend 800 a month at a merchants then Mrs Jones can get a 5l tint £8 cheaper than you.
The best thing for decorators is for a paint shed branch to open in their town this will drive down prices at the others.
the paintshed is owned by Brewers, the paint is dropshipped for brewers by the manufacturers, like for example Tor Coatings at Birtley who are owned by RPM and manufacturered by Zinsser. The pricing can be sustained because you’re actually buying from Zinsser direct, who are hiding behind the Paint Shed. Any clued up decorators merchant would have started cross selling against them, and substituting alternatives. Brewer’s doesn’t care, because its happy to grab the independent decorators merchants who go into liquidation, as for RPM /Tor, they are more interested in toll manufacturing for everyone else, and selling in the sheds. I guess RPM’s brands in Europe are a good fit for ICI/Akzo, who have a massive warchest from selling their chemicals div a few years ago. Tor were still toll manufacturing many of ICI’s low volume specialist paints a few years back. Too many paint suppliers in a shrinking market, they will all get gobbled up by bigger players, which i think was the government’s plan for the uk all along, then they will wack the prices up.
The Paint Shed have 24 stores full of stock and their own warehouses. What makes you think they’re drop shipping for Brewers?
