Maston Spraypaint 2K Aerosol is, as the name suggests, a 2K product, meaning the curing time is accelerated by a chemical reaction. It does come with a separate primer for problem substrates, but the topcoat offers very good adhesion when used on its own.
Maston Spraypaint is available online and there are a whopping 2,500 colours to choose from!! It comes in different finishes too, including matt, semi-gloss and gloss. You can use Maston 2K aerosol on almost any surface, including metal, aluminium, galvanized metal, copper, chrome, wood, stone, ceramics, glass, most plastics, and previously painted surfaces.
The Advantages of Using 2K and What Makes Maston Stand Out?
This is quite a special product; in that it is the only multi-use 2K aerosol in the world. Normally you would need to add the hardener to an aerosol yourself, use what you can in a few hours, then bin the rest. The Maston 2K works in a different way. The hardener is added as the paint is expelled. The upshot is you can use what you need, then store the rest for another day.
Maston also manufacture a water-based alternative which is a good product in its own right, but there are several advantages of using a 2K aerosol. The first is the drying time, which is only a few minutes. This is brilliant as you can apply multiple coats in an hour.
The second, and probably biggest advantage of going with a 2K aerosol is its resilience to the elements. This is perfect for exterior work as it will last for years in the British weather, even if it encounters contaminants such as oil and petrol.
My Maston Spraypaint 2K Aerosol Review
Let’s start with the Maston 2K primer because this is a fantastic product on its own. It adheres to basically anything and it’s durable enough to give it a sand-down after it has dried. This primer gives you the perfect base on which to work.
I have used a lot of aerosols in my time, but the Maston 2K topcoat is a level above any of them. The mist is extremely fine and seems to spread itself out as you spray. This means it sits beautifully and gives you a factory finish every time. It’s forgiving too and doesn’t sag if you apply too much to a single spot.
Opacity is perfect and the fast-drying times help make the application process even easier. Anyone can pick a tin of this stuff up and get a flawless finish. Once cured, you finish will look completely uniformed.

FAQs
What brand of spray paint is the best?
If I had to choose one brand of spray paint above all others, it would be Maston. They have a comprehensive range, it’s all affordable, and its good quality. You can’t go wrong really.
Which spray paint last longer?
2K spray paints with a clear coat over the top will last longer than anything else. You may pay a little more, but you’ll get a factory-like finish that is resistant to petrol and just about anything else.
Can you spray paint without sanding?
You should always sand, no matter what paint you’re applying. Sanding puts thousands of tiny scratches into a surface, which the paint then adheres to. This is called ‘a key’.
How long does spray paint last?
This depends on what product you go for and the environment you use it in. That’s why we always recommend choosing quality paint. You may pay more in the short term, but your finish will last much longer.
How many coats of spray paint do you need?
This depends on what type of spray paint you use, whether you need a primer, and whether you need a clear coat to finish. However, I’d say 2-4 coats is ideal. The other thing to consider is that multiple thin coats are better than 1 thick coat, so don’t be worried about needing the additional coat. It may take longer, but you’ll be left with a better finish.
