LickPro Vinyl Matt is a water-based emulsion used on internal walls and ceilings. You can buy this product from any Screwfix in Brilliant White. It is touch dry in 1-2 hours and recoat after 2-4 hours depending on conditions.

You can apply LickPro Vinyl Matt via brush and roller, or airless sprayer. It has a class 2 scrub rating, making it more durable than most other vinyl matt emulsions, but not as durable as paints such as LickPro Walls and Ceilings.

My LickPro Vinyl Matt Review

We all know who Lick Paint is by now. They started life as a designer brand and became an overnight sensation amongst Interior Designers and high-end retail customers. Well, for the past few months they have started breaking into the Trade Paint Market, and their target audience has shifted to the Professional Decorator.

LickPro Vinyl Matt is another product developed to fit that market. It’s priced competitively against its trade rivals, but it’s what I’d class as a premium product in terms of performance. It’s more durable than standard vinyl matt emulsion, which makes it fine for use on most kitchen ceilings, or even walls in some high-traffic areas.

Opacity is fantastic! The images below show what happens when you apply one coat of LickPro in Brilliant White over Natural Hessian. As you can see, it almost covered the previous colour in one coat. As it dries, it seems to bleach out and look solid. A quick “freshen up” on ceilings will only take one coat of paint, saving you time and money!

Ease of use is fine too, and it seems to dry fairly fast, which also makes life easier. The best thing about this paint is the overall finish. It isn’t what I’d call a bright “in-your-face” white, quite the opposite. But for me, that’s a good thing because it cuts down on defects like flashing and picture framing.

LickPro Vinyl Matt leaves you with a flat, contemporary, solid finish. This makes it fantastic for light sensitive ceilings and open plan rooms. Honestly, you won’t be disappointed by the finish.

FAQs

Can you use vinyl matt emulsion as a mist coat?

Most vinyl matt emulsion paints make the perfect mist coat for new plaster. You just need to dilute your first coat to help adhesion. Just double check the manufacturer’s instructions first, but I’ve never had a problem.

Can you paint radiators with vinyl matt?

Not really. Adhesion and durability will be an issue if you do. You can use the same paint as you do your woodwork, or if you want to keep the heat transfer efficiency, go for a radiator enamel.

Can you wallpaper over vinyl matt paint?

Providing the vinyl matt is sound, you won’t have any issue wallpapering over it. Just size the walls before you start wallpapering (like you would if papering over bare plaster).

Are Lick and LickPro the same?

Same company, and they’re fantastic products, but Lick is directed at retail customers, whereas LickPro is directed at Professional Tradesmen. That means that LickPro is more expensive, but made from higher-quality materials, and will perform better.

Is LickPro Vinyl Matt ok for ceilings?

LickPro Vinyl Matt is a fantastic ceiling paint! Great opacity and a lovely finish. There are no defects like flashing or picture framing.
