Decorating and DIY specialist Leyland has announced an enhanced family leave offering for colleagues, including the introduction of industry-leading fertility treatment policies, to better support colleagues during important life events.
Leyland, which has 35 stores and more than 450 employees across London, has significantly improved its provisions around maternity, adoption, paternity and fertility pay and leave.
The changes reflect Leyland’s ongoing commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive workplace for all.
Emma Harris, Head of HR at Leyland, said: “We are proud to be able to offer these enhancements to our team. These are crucial life milestones and we feel the new policies will enable our colleagues to benefit from time away from the workplace to adjust to and enjoy their new circumstances, or to attend fertility appointments.
“Leyland is an inclusive business and we want to support our people, helping to alleviate some of the monetary burden and stress that comes with starting or planning a family.”
The new pay and provisions will be available to all colleagues going on maternity, adoption, paternity or fertility leave from January 1, subject to qualifying service, with maternity and adoption leave increasing notably to 16 weeks’ full pay followed by 23 weeks’ statutory, and paternity leave boosted to two weeks’ full pay.
Fertility leave is a brand new benefit for Leyland colleagues. Colleagues receiving treatment will be able to take five paid days’ leave per cycle of IVF or egg freezing, alongside the flexibility to attend appointments. If a Leyland colleague has a partner receiving treatment, they will also be able to take three paid days per cycle, enabling them to attend appointments as well.
Emma added: “Fertility treatment is sadly more common than many people think and can be an incredibly challenging time that has a lasting physical and emotional impact on those experiencing it.
“These additional days of paid leave will help our colleagues greatly as they try to start a family.”
Leyland stores are found in prominent locations across London, stocking a comprehensive range of products, including paint and decorating essentials, tools, hardware, electrical and plumbing equipment and building materials.
