Leyland and Dulux Heritage team up for classic book competition

Leading decorating and DIY specialist Leyland has teamed up with Dulux Heritage to give away some of its handcrafted, limited edition copies of timeless literary classics.

Dulux Heritage has hand-picked 12 classic novels and paired them with hues within its range that evoke the same mood.

For example, the thriller The Hound of the Baskervilles has been twinned with Wild Blackberry, a smoky tone that comes alive at night, while George Orwell’s 1984 has been matched with Oxford Blue, a moody shade that brings timeless sophistication to any space.

Leyland has a long and successful partnership with Dulux Heritage and has 10 sets of the special books up for grabs in a social media competition.

To enter, visit Leyland’s Instagram, Facebook or X page.

Naivasha Elworthy, Marketing Manager at Leyland, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Dulux Heritage on this exciting competition.

“Colour can evoke very strong emotions, as can novels, so it’s a clever idea to link the two. These books will look amazing on any bookshelf and will provide hours of entertainment.”

All 12 of the stunning covers were intricately crafted by hand to demonstrate the genuine application of paint. They’re the work of Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director for the Dulux brand in the UK and Ireland.

“Books help us feel an enormous range of emotions as we experience the lives of others through the medium of a story,” said Marianne.

“By pairing 12 literary classics with 12 classic shades, the feelings they evoke are deliciously heightened, offering consumers an entirely new way to choose colors.

“For me, one of the most exciting and satisfying parts of this project has been the opportunity to use our paints and colours creatively to capture the essence of each title.

“We wanted to experiment with different ways of applying paint, such as using a brush, roller and spray, as well as trying drip, splash and pour techniques..”

The Hound of the Baskervilles – Wild Blackberry

1984 – Oxford Blue
