Hundreds Join in as Leyland SDM Supports Pride in London

Hundreds of people visited Leyland SDM’s stand as the leading decorating and DIY retailer demonstrated its support for the LGBTQ+ community at Pride in London.

Leyland SDM set up shop outside the Canadian High Commission on Pall Mall East for the showpiece event on Saturday, just metres away from where hitmaker Rita Ora thrilled fans at Trafalgar Square.

An estimated 30,000 revellers from across 600 organisations streamed past the Leyland SDM tent during the iconic colourful parade.

Cliff Rendell, People Director at Leyland SDM, said many people took part in Leyland SDM’s activities, which included a spin-to-win competition and free face painting.

“Pride in London 2023 was an incredible event and one which we were extremely proud to be a part of,” said Cliff.

“We were positioned right in the heart of the action and hundreds of people stopped to either take advantage of our free face painting or to have a go on our prize wheel.

“With 33 stores in prominent locations across London, we are fiercely proud of the city and the vast diversity of people that make it what it is. Pride in London is an amazing celebration of that diversity and it’s a privilege to be involved.

“It’s also an opportunity to show our support for the members of the LGBTQ+ community amongst our 450-strong workforce. Inclusivity is one of our core values that we hold dear every day of the year.”

It was the second year Leyland SDM has been represented at Pride in London, having made its debut at the event in 2022.

Pride in London is the UK’s largest event of its kind and aims to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues.

Leyland SDM has become one of the most recognisable and trusted decorating and DIY retail brands in central London, with stores in some of the capital’s most prominent locations.

Its stores stock a comprehensive range of thousands of products across all departments, including paint and decorating essentials, building materials, electrical fittings, tools, plumbing equipment, ironmongery and much more, all under one roof.

Some of the biggest and best-known DIY brands are available at Leyland SDM, including Farrow & Ball, Tesa, Bahco, Bosch, Purdy, Dulux Trade, Leyland Trade, Stanley, Ronseal and DEWALT.
