Grand Re-Opening of Dulux Decorating Centre’s Leicester Branch

Paint merchant, Dulux Decorator Centre, has undergone a major refurbishment and opened its newly renovated store in Leicester (locally known as Snaiths). Opened on November 17, the new-look store enhances the shopping experience for its customers with a new layout, improved colour area offering tools and colour inspiration from ranges like Dulux Heritage, Dulux Trade and Little Greene.

The opening saw the store team, local community and the iconic Dulux dog come together to celebrate all that Dulux Decorator Centre has to offer the Leicester community.

The store has been in the same location in Leicester since the 1960s, but the store goes back to the 1860s when Mary Snaith and her family opened it as a specialist decorating merchants. In 1990, the store suffered a devastating fire that required over 60 firefighters on the scene. Following the fire, the store operated out of a nearby old school building and offices whilst the original building was being rebuilt.  The store was then acquired by Dulux Decorator Centre in 1995 and has remained a reliable part of the local community of decorators. The team at Leicester Snaiths has supported large projects in the area, including the apartments right next door to the store.

Alex Kendall, Store Assistant Manager and longest serving Dulux Decorator Centre Leicester Snaiths employee said: “The whole team is thrilled with the store’s refurbishment and the significant investment that has gone into giving the local community a better in store experience. After working at the store for 26 years, I’ve seen some of our customers develop through their careers from starting as apprentices all the way through to independent and talented professionals.

“The refurbishment has also reassured our customers that we are here to stay and I’m excited to see how we can support them in the coming years.”

To celebrate the grand re-opening, the Leicester Dulux Decorator Centre team is working with local charity, Giving World, to redistribute unused paint across the country to those in need.

Guy Butterworth, Managing Director at Dulux Decorator Centre, comments: “We were delighted to be able to provide greater accessibility and a wider product range to our customers in Leicester. The enhancements to the layout of the store and improvements, in particular to the colour area, will provide locals with greater choice and allow the store team to better advise and assist customers on colour choice.  The store is relied upon by so many in the local area and we are looking forward to welcoming customers, old and new, to our new look premises.”
