Dulux has announced its Colour of the Year for 2024, Sweet EmbraceTM. The colour is a delicate, optimistic and modern tone that is understated and comforting and brings a sense of stability and softness to a space. To help decorators provide their customers with colour inspiration, Dulux is also launching three easy-to-use, versatile colour palettes that complement Sweet EmbraceTM.

For 21 years, the Dulux Colour of the Year has been decided based on extensive trends research conducted by Dulux colour experts and international design professionals. Dulux’s Colour of the Year for 2024 reflects people’s need for simplicity, meaning and a sense of belonging. The colour can be used on its own or alongside the tones in the three supporting Dulux Colour FuturesTM palettes:

  • A Warm palette for comforting spaces – a compilation of global earth tones that can be used to create spaces for occupants to feel snug and find comfort. These tones are ideal for bedroom, living, kitchen and dining spaces as they feel familiar and embracing.
  • A Calm palette for quiet spaces – fluid greens and blues have a naturally clarifying effect and bring a feeling of serenity. They are perfect for bathrooms and home offices to help people relax and relieve stress.
  • An Uplifting palette to create friendly spaces – a mix of modern yellows with soft lilacs, this palette has a positive, uplifting mood. The colours in this palette can be used in the hallway to bring a sense of joy to those entering a property. They can also be used in the bathroom or dressing areas to encourage a ‘get up and go’ attitude.

Marianne Shillingford, Colour Expert and Creative Director at Dulux, explains: “What is so wonderful about Sweet Embrace™ is its soothing subtlety. While being a beautiful standalone colour, it’s a hue that matches perfectly with so many other shades so that decorators can use it as a backdrop to build a totally individual space upon. A shade as versatile as Sweet Embrace™ encourages us to get creative and fashion spaces that allow occupants to feel completely at home.”

Nicola Holmes, Skills Development Consultant – Colour & Design at Dulux, commented: “Sweet Embrace™, together with its three supporting palettes, arms decorators with the tools required to give them confidence when advising clients on their colour choices and design visions. With this resource in their toolkit, decorators can build a reputation as an expert in colour selection.”

To support decorators further, Dulux is hosting a series of Dulux Academy Live courses in September to provide additional insight into the Colour of the Year 2024. The FREE sessions will give decorators a better understanding of how Sweet Embrace™ and its supporting palettes can be used, as well as top tips to get the perfect finish. Decorators can register via the Dulux Academy website: https://academy.duluxtradepaintexpert.co.uk/.

Professionals can also use the Dulux Visualizer App to show their customers what each Dulux Colour FuturesTM tone will look like in their space using augmented reality.

Dulux Trade Colour of the Year 2024 Sweet EmbraceTM and the palettes are available for purchase from 12 September 2023. For more information visit www.duluxtrade.co.uk/CF24 and follow #CF24 on social media.
