Crown Provides Backdrop For Artistic Talent of the Future


What do Jarvis Cocker, Stella McCartney and Crown Paints have in common? They’ve all been on display at Central Saint Martins College!

Lancashire-based paint manufacturer Crown Paints sponsored this year’s prestigious MA Design; Ceramics, Furniture and Jewellery Degree Show, which showcased the work of some of the UK’s brightest artistic prospects for the very first time. The show typically welcomes over 35,000 visitors through its doors, and Crown was proud to provide the backdrop to the exhibition.

Crown Paints donated 100 litres of white matt emulsion and 25 litres of matt emulsion in City Break, a neutral grey tone that provided the perfect background to the colourful and inventive wares on display.

The donation was facilitated through Crown’s unique social enterprise scheme, NIMTECH, which provides waste recovery and recycling services to the whole of Crown’s UK operations as well as creating employment opportunities for the hard to reach and long term unemployed in the community.

Josie Cawdry, corporate communications executive at Crown Paints said: “Central Saint Martins is renowned the world over as a creative and artistic hub, and we are very proud to have been able to help this year’s graduating MA students to showcase their furniture, ceramics and jewellery designs in front of thousands of visitors.

“As the paint was donated through NIMTECH, Central Saint Martins were not only helping us to offer employment to people in need in our community, but were using paint that may otherwise have ended up as waste – with sustainability an important concern for both our organisations, our values aligned perfectly and I hope we can work together again in the future.”
