Crown Paints Charitable Drive for Communities

Leading paint manufacturer Crown Paints has continued to invest in community and charitable causes through donations across the UK designed to add colour to people’s lives.

The company regularly donates to worthy causes through its network of more than 130 Crown Decorating Centres and NIMTECH, the social enterprise based at its Darwen HQ whichaims to reduce waste and promote recycling.

Some of Crown Paints’ popular products are manufactured at the company’s Hull facility, and donations are regularly made within the local community. The latest cause to receive a donation was Emmaus Hull, which was provided with Crown Trade Clean Extreme Scrubbable Matt in grey to refurbish its dining room. The charity works to combat homelessness through providing those in need with a stable place to live and work for as long as is needed, and the refurbished dining room is now a clean and fresh space for its companions to enjoy.

Caroline Russell, Emmaus Hull’s community support worker, said: “As a social enterprise, we’re reliant on the support of individuals and other organisations to enable our community to be as self-sustaining as possible, and the donation from Crown Paints has allowed us to carry out a much-needed refurbishment of our dining area.

“We’re truly grateful to Crown Paints for its generous donation, which has made our companions’ home a much brighter place.”

And the OASIS Community Centre in Worksop recently benefited from a donation of paint supplied by Chesterfield Crown Decorating Centre, through a ‘DIY SOS’ style project organised and carried out by the National Association of Professional Inspectors and Testers (NAPIT). Crown’s donation of 50 litres of Sadolin Superdec Satin Opaque Wood Protection in Light Brunswick Green has helped the centre, which provides a place for members of the community to take part in various activities and projects, rejuvenate a building – The Edge on Plantation Hill – to provide more space for additional projects.

Commenting on the donation, NAPIT’s group chief executive Mike Andrews said: “We’re really pleased with Sadolin’s application and the finish achieved, and despite experiencing wet weather, the rain has simply been running off the surface so we’re confident that it’ll provide long-lasting protection for the building. We love the colour and it has transformed The Edge’s exterior, as well as making sure it will be protected for winter.

“We’ve relied on the generosity of other companies throughout this project and we’d like to express our sincere thanks to Crown Paints for supporting this brilliant cause.”

Josie Cawdry, corporate communications executive at Crown Paints, said of the donations: “As a company we pride ourselves on supporting worthy causes which benefit the communities in which we work, so we’re delighted to have played our part in the transformation of Emmaus Hull’s dining room and The Edge building of the OASIS Community Centre.

“It’s great to hear that those involved in both projects have been pleased with the results, and we hope both organisations enjoy the new-look spaces for years to come.”
