BIRSTALL, UK, 7th May, 2026 – JOHNSTONE’S PAINT™, a brand by PPG (NYSE: PPG), today revealed the finalists for this year’s Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Awards. Now in its 42nd year, this year’s awards see the introduction of three brand-new categories, continuing to celebrate excellence and craftsmanship within the painting and decorating industry.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 16th May in Glasgow. On the night, winners across the nine categories will be announced before those category winners go head-to-head for the coveted title of ‘Supreme Winner’. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote and decide who takes home the top prize – a brand-new van featuring their own company logo.

For 2025, the awards introduce three new categories – Exterior, Shared Spaces and Stadium Hospitality – reflecting the impressive variety of projects entered. The finalists, across both new and existing categories, were selected from hundreds of outstanding submissions, showcasing projects spanning Education, Industrial, Leisure and Recreation and Residential, as well as projects using EWI and Render systems.

Each entry has been carefully assessed by PPG’s expert technical and colour consultants, with projects judged on a wide range of criteria that includes the quality of the finish, attention to detail and the technical, practical and logistical challenges successfully overcome.

Megan Esmond, PPG Marketing Director, UK & Ireland, Architectural Coatings, said: “The Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Awards is an exceptional platform to recognise and celebrate the skill, creativity and dedication of painters and decorators across the UK and Ireland. It’s a standout occasion that brings the industry together, with finalists given the exciting opportunity to win a brand-new van.

“The introduction of three new categories reflects the diversity of the projects entered and allows us to highlight excellence across an even broader range of environments and applications. It’s inspiring to see how professionals continue to push boundaries, overcome complex challenges, and deliver outstanding results.

“Selecting the finalists is never easy, particularly when the standard of work and range of projects keeps improving year after year. Thank you to everyone who entered, and congratulations to our shortlisted finalists; we can’t wait to celebrate with you.”
